Retired Judge Mary F. Fitzgerald served as a District Judge for Tulsa County and tried more than 120 jury trials between 2007 - 2018. Prior to taking the bench as a District Judge, Mary was a District Court Judicial Referee. She graduated from the University of Tulsa College of Law, J.D., in 1990.
Before going on the bench, her areas of practice include juvenile and family law, probate, contract review and negotiation, document review for complex litigation, real estate transactions, collections/debtor/creditor, simple civil and criminal litigation, and litigation management for personal injury.
Mary was awarded the Tulsa Public Schools Award for Excellence for establishing the first pilot program to reduce Tulsa Public Schools’ truancy rates. She received the Community Collaboration Award from the Mental Health Association for creating legal resources for low income individuals and was awarded the Outstanding Service Award for her work in providing access to justice. In 2008, she was recognized with the Mona Salyer Lambird Spotlight Award. Most recently, Mary received the 2017 Tulsa County Bar Association Senior Lawyer award and 2018 Lion of the Bar Award/Council Oak-Johnson-Sontag AIOC award.
She is active in the community serving as a member/chairperson for several legal committees and board member of non-profit organizations, including Tulsa CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and the Family Safety Center.
